To experience meaning in life, God invites you to
Surrender completely to Him
 Jesus
modeled complete surrender and selfless sacrifice when
he gave his life on the cross to take the punishment we
deserved. Shortly before he did this, he prayed
“My Father, if it is possible, may
this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but
as you will.” (Mat.
26:39 NIV) Well before that Jesus said to his
disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower,
you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your
cross, and follow me.” (Mat. 16:24 NLT)
God calls us to surrender what is most
valuable; your time and resources. First, take time this
week to surrender your time in prayer. Praise him,
confess sin, give him thanks, ask him for what you need,
and listen for his direction. Second, surrender your
finances and stuff. It all belongs to God; he can take
it in a blink of an eye. The question is how are you
using it for him. Tithing (giving 10% of your income to
your church) is a good reminder of this truth. If
you can surrender your wallet, you are well on your way
to full surrender. (see Mat. 6:19-34)
