September Update
GO
TIME!
September
means that it is time to gear up and get ready to
go. We have been meeting at the theater these last
two weeks and will continue to do so up until launch
date: October first. This enables us to see
the areas in which we are doing well, and areas that
need more attention. Sort of like dress rehearsals
or trial runs. With each week, things get a little
easier and run a little smoother. The glitches are
getting worked out and we are making changes in the
areas that needed some adjustments or just more
attention. We are all seeing how our individual
parts make the whole run as a unit.
As
always, your prayers are important to us.
Here are some specifics that we ask you to pray
for:
While
it has been exciting to see that we can do this with our
core group and get the work done, there are areas that
could really use more hands and willing hearts.
-
SOUND:
We need someone who is well versed in audio to come
and run our sound system each week. We had
Kevin Osborn for this job, but he was needed at his
home church to begin a second service on Sunday mornings.
He is helping set up, but then has to leave. Please pray that
the right person will come along and join our team
to fill this vital position. We also need
audio tech. people to assist them. [At
the time she wrote this, Rachel
had not heard that Kevin O. invited a friend (audio
tech) to come and help us this week. He was a
huge help and we hope he will continue to help at least
through our initial start-up.]

-
LIGHTING
& VIDEO:
We need 2 people to work with these.
-
-
MUSICIANS:
While our band has come a long way, we could use a
couple strong vocalists and another guitarist.
-
KID'S
TECH:
Someone to run the sound, lights, and video.
-
-
CHILDREN'S
CHURCH: Stephanie & Mark are doing a great job
with our pre-K--1st graders. What we would
love to see happen is for someone (or several
people) to come along side them and do children's
church for our 2nd-5th graders also. As of
now, there is no children's church for those
ages.
-
-
NURSERY:
We would like to see at least 2 volunteer helpers in the
nursery with Colleen each week.
So
basically, (and this is to be expected when you first
start out) we need more people who are willing to give
of their time and talents. As we grow as a church,
these things will fall into place.
There
has been some unpleasant excitement at our
building. Here is a note from Pastor Kevin and
Armond:
Well,
we, as a church, have experienced our first real pains of
being in an urban setting. There was a break-in here at
2207 Falls Ave. and some of our equipment was stolen
this week. Kevin & Armond had taken some of the
cases off of the trailer on Monday to get equipment to
lead wor ship the next day at the fall Classis meeting.
We locked everything up & left with our equipment.
On Wednesday, Kevin received a call from the bldg. Mgr
that there had been a break in. On Thursday Armond
noticed that the back door was closed but not locked and
that the basement door was punched through. The doors of
our cases were opened. After doing a set up of our
equipment we realized that there were several things
missing. One of which was a keyboard from Orchard
Hill Church ($700). Armond lost multiple
cables and 4 guitar stands worth about $200.00.
Joey lost an effects pedal worth about $150.00. B.O.H.
lost 6 microphones, microphone cables, instrument cables
and a video splitter together worth about $300.
So,
there you have it. I know I mentioned some
specifics, but we always seek your prayers for our
overall mission: that we will continue to do God's
work under God's will and direction. Our youth
program can always use prayer and more helpers
too.
Thank
you for being such a vital part of Bridge of Hope.
We look to our prayer warriors to keep us before
the throne of God.
ONE MORE NOTE FROM PK: Stephanie, Ian,
Zack, Elyssa, and I have been greatly blessed over the
last month as we move
into
our first home (that we have owned). It has been a
great adventure in which we've seen God provide
abundantly. Briefly... we searched in our price range
and were disappointed by the lack of yard or lack of
house at every turn. We figured we would have to
settle for less and make it work. Our realtor
found an under-priced, three bedroom, big yard, usable
basement house with an attached garage. I made an
offer without Stephanie seeing the house (she did
approve the offer based on my description over the
phone!). Anyway, we have a great house at a great
price. God is very good!
