March Update
Dear friends & family,
Spring is here already! While it is still cold and
muddy and dirty outside, the promise of spring makes one
hopeful. There have been some exciting times in
our church and the promise of new life has
also been found here. But before I go into that,
let me get some of the other details and events told.
On
Feb. 5th, we saw an answer to some of our most earnest
prayers: our friend, Mick, was released
early from jail for good behavior. I think I
mentioned in the previous prayer letter that Heather had
their baby...a beautiful little Boy, Robert. It
was a wonderful reunion when Mick finally got to go home
and hold his little boys.
Near
the
end of February, Kevin, Armond, Elroy, Terry,
Clete and Lorry left the rest of us in the throws of some
wintry ice and snow storms and
flew out to Florida for a conference on church
planting. They
came back to us
with renewed passion and
vision for what we are doing here in
Waterloo. Key points include: 1. It was a
reaffirmation that we are on the right path and that we
are doing the right things. Armond said that one
of the benefits of being
with all of the other church planters was the realization
of
just how far we've already come and how many
"landmines" we have avoided because
of Kevin's gift of organization and
attention to details. 2. They were reminded that servant
evangelism is key to building relationships and is an
awesome witnessing tool. (Elroy, especially, had a great
time cleaning toilets!) 3. Lorry commented
"I can't express how much we really, really need to
pray." 4. "Where God guides, God provides. 5.
Clete later said "I figured out why I am here." 6. They came away with some
great ministry tools 7. "Doers are deciders." 8.
Possible bi-vocational work for Armond and Kevin... On
the flight home, Armond sat next to a certified bra
fitter for Oprah's favorite bra. (Please keep our
pastors out of trouble by continuing to give financial
support!)
Two weeks ago, we had the privilege of having
Lauren, April, Julia, Tyler & Jeff "Audio Life"
come from the Green Bay, WI area to lead worship. The
youngest member just turned 14! They did an awesome
job, in spite of driving all night long to get here
after doing a concert in Wisconsin as a favor to
Armond...(who is a part of the group whenever he can
be). There were 78 people at that worship
service....26 of them being teens.
Our
Sunday morning worship attendance has been growing and
lately, we have seen on average 2-3 new visitors a
week. It is fun to see them find their areas of
interest and get involved. The praise team is a
big draw and at least 4 new people have become involved
in that ministry. Please pray that we find just
the right people to come and join our Nursery team as
that is one area in which we still need much help.
  And
speaking of new life, last week was an incredibly
exciting week for us. Armond was preaching his
last sermon of a 4 week series. There was no
special event or evangelistic outreach
concert, just our regular service
and much
prayer
that the Holy Spirit would move.
He certainly did
that morning because two of our newest teens; Katie and Stephanie, and one very special little boy...my son, Richard,
accepted Christ last Sunday March 11, 2007. How
great is that?!
Word of Thanks:
Thanks to Stout Reformed Church for your gift of $5,000.
Thank you to all the family and friends who have given
so generously this year. Without your support,
we'd be hurt'n. Look at the faces above. You
will see them in heaven, having had a part in getting
them there!
