For thanksgiving, we partnered with Breath of Life Church to host a free meal. They have done meals in the past and gotten a minimal response, so we did not anticipate many people would attend beyond our own members. Well, next time we’ll have to have a larger space. We packed their facility wall to wall. Fortunately, as people finished, seats opened up for others. We were able to connect and encourage both Breath of Life and people from the community.
We are now preparing to bless people who are struggling financially this Christmas. We’ve asked our attendees to fill out applications for people they believe need some encouragement. We are collecting items for a significant Christmas meal for each family, and then inviting our attendees to buy gifts for individuals.
Assembling a Shed
Earlier this summer several of our men removed a damaged shed for a disabled couple. Recently, we were able to assemble a new one. It turned out to be a bit more complicated than we anticipated, taking seven guys a total of about 40 hours to do it. (Although I did leave them for a time to repair a kitchen drawer, bedroom closet, and the air conditioner mount - I did not realize I had such skills.) The couple was blessed and the guys enjoyed the challenge.
Please consider sending us into the new year on solid ground with an end-of-year gift. We greatly appreciate your support. Just send a check to the address below or go to www.bridgeofhopechurch.com/give.html
