Our Vision (2014) is a vivid picture of what we believe is God’s dream for us.
"And if the bugler doesn’t sound a clear call, how will the soldiers know they are being called to battle?"(1 Cor. 14:8)
God is calling us to be a diverse, vibrant family of Christ followers
who overflow with hope and help into our community through
Community Service Projects,
Inspiring Worship Gatherings,
Strategic Need-meeting Ministries, &
Intentional Leadership Development
OUR STRATEGY articulates how we will live into our vision.
We will flood Waterloo with hope and help through…
Community Service Projects: We see people being a light in the streets by serving the community, inviting them to connect, and telling them about our hope in Jesus.
Inspiring Worship Gatherings: We see people gathering regularly to build each other up through…
practical, biblical teaching;
friendly, non-judgmental relationships; and
authentic, hope-filled worship.
Strategic Need-meeting Ministries: We see people creatively meeting real needs in the community, so that those once in need can help others battle grief, poverty, addiction, and hopelessness.
Intentional Leadership Development: We see people being encouraged, equipped, and empowered to transform the lives of others in Waterloo and around the world.
We believe God is calling us to establish a community enrichment center from which we can help under-resourced families escape poverty and find hope in Jesus.
We envision a facility where we can provide car maintenance, daycare, support groups, financial coaching, education support, physical fitness opportunities, job training, and more. Please, consider how you could join us in serving those in need in Waterloo.
Our Vision (2006)
God is calling us to be a diverse, vibrant community of Christ followers building bridges to Jesus throughout the Cedar Valley.
We see a church communicating God's message of hope and love by investing its time, energy and resources in building a bridge with the following infrastructure:
B1-Outreach: We see a church crossing ethnic, economic, generational, and cultural barriers by serving and befriending others, expressing God’s love and expanding His Kingdom.
B2-Hospitality: We see a church warmly welcoming all who come, freely offering food and drinks, quickly responding to needs, clearly communicating what guests need to know, thus making every effort to insure that no unbeliever is put off, so that they embrace the message of Christ.
B3-Gathering: We see a church gathering to celebrate God’s love with vibrant music and to grow through relevant messages which speak powerfully to a visual and experiential culture.
B4-Technology: We see a church utilizing technology like the internet (to invite, inform and interact with unbelievers) and audio/video equipment (to powerfully communicate God’s Word).
B5-Children & Youth: We see a church lovingly nurturing children and youth to be fully devoted followers of Jesus who build bridges to the next generation.
B6-Follow-up: We see a church striving to close the “back door” by contacting visitors during the week and connecting them to meaningful ministries and supportive relationships.
B7-Life Groups: We see a church gathering in small groups and classes to study the Word of God, build healthy relationships, and equip God’s people to serve.
B8-Service: We see a church equipped, empowered, and mobilized to serve God’s purposes in the world, where every servant enjoys serving because they utilize their unique SHAPE (spiritual gifts, heart, abilities, personality, experience) in ministry.
B9-Prayer: We see a church humbly submitting to the will of God by laying every concern at His feet, trusting in His goodness at all times, and listening for His direction in every situation.
B10-Stewardship: We see a church personally sacrificing to enable the whole church to effectively reach younger generations, where 100% of the Partners in Ministry are tithing and serving weekly in a ministry.
B11-Facilities: We see a church creatively utilizing commercial buildings, church buildings and private homes for ministry purposes.
B12-Leadership: We see a church organized to be effective and efficient in accomplishing God’s purpose and led by people who are transformed, gifted, and equipped.
B13-Multiplication: We see a church partnering with other ministries to plant new churches in the surrounding communities of NE Iowa and around the world.
"But these things I plan won’t happen right away.
Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches
when the vision will be fulfilled.
If it seems slow, wait patiently, for it will surely take place.
It will not be delayed."
(Habakkuk 2:3 NLT)
