To experience meaning in life, God invites you to
Connect deeply with other believers
Do you ever feel alone or wish your friends were more
real with you? You are not alone. Most relationships
today are superficial at best and lack the openness that
builds healthy friendships. While it is easy to
blame others for this, blaming will get you no where.
Consider looking in a mirror and digging into God's Word
for help in nurturing healthy relationships.
In Mat. 22, Jesus revealed the two most important things
for us to do: love God and love others. Even when people
are hard to love, God invites us to take a different
path: to be patient, kind, not envious, not boastful,
not proud, not rude, not self-seeking, not easily
angered, not keeping any record of wrongs, not
delighting in evil, rejoicing in the truth, protecting,
trusting, hoping, and persevering. (1 Cor. 13)
Consider these commitments to nurture love in your
relationships.
6 COMMITMENTS TO
EXPERIENCE JOY IN CONNECTING
(Romans 12:9-18)
Encourage
Authenticity
10Love
each other with genuine affection,
Expect to Enjoy
Others
[10b]
and take delight in honoring each other.
16
Don't try to act important, but enjoy the company of
ordinary people. And don't think you know it all!
Express Love Tangibly
9Don't
just pretend that you love others. Really love them. …13When
God's children are in need, be the one to help them out.
And get into the habit of inviting guests home for
dinner or, if they need lodging, for the night.
Envelope Others in
Prayer
14If
people persecute you because you are a Christian, don't
curse them; pray that God will bless them.
Experience life
together
15When
others are happy, be happy with them. If they are sad,
share their sorrow.
Eradicate Discord
16Live
in harmony with each other. 17Never pay back
evil for evil to anyone. Do things in such a way that
everyone can see you are honorable. 18Do your
part to live in peace with everyone, as much as
possible.
