9/11/08 Groups come to help...
First Reformed Church of Hospers and Fairhaven Ministries have sent groups to help the families below.  We are very grateful for their time and effort.

7/08 Lorry and Terry Collins...
Their home was severly damaged by the flooding of the Cedar River.  Water came about 2ft up in the first floor, destroy much of their property in the basement and garage.  They were able to get some things out like the churches 24ft trailer which contains most of our equipment for Sunday services in the movie theatre.

6/08 Bridge of Hope folks...
Jim and Barb have been attending for several months. Barb as been playing bass in the band. Armond, Clete, Teresa and I spent several hours at their farm today. They are both physically ok, but emotionally hurting. The destruction was overwhelming. We wondered about for a while, trying figure out where to begin. Guys were already cutting and hauling trees. Another was ripping the roof off the largest barn (with a crane type machine). Here's what was in the Courier...

Jim Dos faced an equally grim prognosis on his farm nearby on East Mount Vernon Road.

"We just aren't going to have anything left when it is all said and done," Dos said.

Jim and his father, Rodger, raise chickens and hogs on their farm. The tornado damaged most of his buildings and parts of two houses on the property.

Two of those buildings held around 170,000 adult and baby chickens, which Dos custom feeds. Most of the chickens survived, but Dos said the damage was severe enough that he'll have to "write it all off."

"I'm pretty sure this is the end of my farming career," Dos said.

Jim is unsure what his insurance will cover and concerned about clean up costs. He did share that he had been "asking God for a way out of the chicken business, but this is not what I had in mind."

Please pray for Jim and Barb.

We hope to help them more in the coming days and are trying to organize a time to do this together.

Pray also for...

Richard (home severely damaged- friend of dale and Eva Marshall (barn destroyed, 2 homes were damaged) - friend of Clete This is from Bob and Dort Kampman. Bob serves on BOH's Sponsoring/Supervisory Team...
